For years, I ran a series on my blog called "Weekend Links" - a roundup of things I'd been reading, loving, buying, trying… you get the gist.
Well, here's the shiny new 2025 version on Substack: Weekend Notes. A weekly roundup of interesting things that you might find interesting, too.
For example, this is what’s included this week…
The skincare product I bought in bulk when I realised it was (finally) back in stock, along with a list of other products I make sure to have backups of.
Links to all of the Substacks I’m loving at the moment, and some other pieces across the web I think you’ll enjoy.
The incredibly flattering jeans I bought last year that I ended up getting in two more colours.
… and the next aesthetic treatment on my hit list (along with a bonus post coming your way this Wednesday that I think you’re going to like).
It will land in your inbox every weekend. I hope you enjoy it!
Free subscribers will be able to see the first two items in Weekend Notes, and paid subscribers will be able to see the complete list, along with additional exclusive Glow Notes content and access to the archive.
A subscription to Glow Notes is €8 a month, which you can sign up for by hitting the subscribe the button below (or if you’d like to sign up for a year to support my work, click here to get 20% off).
Links and what I’m reading on Substack.
This beautiful piece by Colm Toibin on “writing his little words” during the fires in LA is worth reading.
As is this one by Freya India on our incessant need to document everything (and why we shouldn’t).
If you’re new to Substack or just on the hunt for some great writers to follow, here are some of my current favourite reads: Peak Notions, How To Build A Life, The Contrarian, Legit Mom Style, Home.
Dr. Jart Ceramidin Facial Barrier Mask
This sheet mask really has my nerves on edge. It's out of stock more often than not, and last year it underwent a packaging redesign, which should have reassured me that it wasn't being discontinued. Yet, it still seems to be, for the most part, unavailable. Last week, I spotted it on Cult Beauty, and the speed with which I repurchased several packs was something to behold.
It’s become a staple in my routine over the years because it works really fast. It's my go-to when my skin is overly sensitive, dehydrated, or irritated; it's what I use post-treatment to calm my skin; it's what I reach for after a flight to calm and soothe - basically, it's brilliant. I'm never without it, and I think everyone else should have it in their routine, too.
Other products that I've either already bought a backup of, or have an order currently placed for, include:
Rhode Glazing Milk. I’m obsessed with the product and use it every day. It’s essentially a milky essence - it calms, soothes, hydrates and preps the skin for other skincare products. I bought the travel size too.
Dermalogica Power Recovery Cream. I started using this just after Christmas, and my skin absolutely drinks it up. It’s a cream that applies like a serum, and when you work it into the skin, it almost feels like a balm. It’s glorious - plumping, soothing, intensely hydrating, and my skin shines like a beacon after I apply it.
